Bio

 

Pinxi Lu is a multimedia composer, sound artist and art director, born in Shanghai and raised in southern China and Idyllwild, California. Her composition includes film scoring, interactive media scoring, sound sculpture(data-driven), chamber, electroacoustic music, and sound installation. Her score has appeared in selections of film festivals from United States, China and Japan, and multiple art projects are associated with local science research institutes in southern China. Raised by a geography engineer couple, Pinxi's childhood and early music education took place in an organic environment. Pinxi’s passion in composition and a keen interest in filmmaking were revealed in highschool, and during her undergraduate studies of  Screening Scoring at Berklee College of Music, she also audited classes of data science and interactive media design at other institutions in the New England area, which led to her cross-disciplinary composition and performances.

In August 2022, Pinxi worked as an secondary composer and orchestrator for documentary series The Chinese Villages in China, a CCTV9 production. In April 2023, Pinxi directed the interdisciplinary composition concert "Sensibilia" at Berklee, and premiered her sound art project, Heart of The Great Canal, which later gained recognition from the Southwest Office of  the China Geological Society. Drawing inspiration from the synergy of music, natural science and technology, Pinxi dedicates to craft sonic narratives that advocate for a profound connection between communities and their natural environment.
